Bad Johnny McCain: Rebel, Maverick and Ladeeez Man

Three reporters from Arizona, on the condition of anonymity, also let me in on another incident involving McCain’s intemperateness. In his 1992 Senate bid, McCain was joined on the campaign trail by his wife, Cindy, as well as campaign aide Doug Cole and consultant Wes Gullett. At one point, Cindy playfully twirled McCain’s hair and said, “You’re getting a little thin up there.” McCain’s face reddened, and he responded, “At least I don’t plaster on the makeup like a trollop, you cunt.
Bush calling a reporter a “major league asshole” whilst his Veep Cheney chimed in with Ed McMahonian “big time” is one thing. The aforementioned Veep charmster telling a Senator to “go fuck yourself” on the Senate floor was a step up in the unseemly. But still. This strong language doesn’t generalized into the sort of bigotry that is reflected by casual use of “nigger”, “faggot” or…..”cunt”.
That’s right. Think about what would happen if it was alleged that a candidate for Presidency had said “nigger” or “faggot” and really meant it. There would be some shit on. We’d get to the bottom of the matter. There would be a national press explosion. And when this guy calls his own wife a “trollop” and a “cunt”?
Well Bad Johnny was on a program called The View this week. I hear it has a substantial audience. A substantial female audience too. And here is how the hosts schooled him on his gender gap:
McCain got a warm welcome but offered a businesslike greeting: handshakes for the hosts.
“Barack Obama gave us a hug,” co-host Joy Behar told him.
Then he was coaxed into some hugs, a telling lesson for the Republican candidate to embrace a giant challenge: the gender gap.
Say what? How about asking an interesting question like “Did you or did you not call your own wife a trollop and a cunt?”.
Now that would be an interesting answer to hear.
