Women Drivers

April 20, 2008 § 3 Comments

I’m not really a motosports fan but you have to Give it UP for Danica Patrick’s first major win.

Patrick became the first woman to win a major auto race by stealing the IndyCar Series’ event at the Twin Ring Motegi circuit in Japan.

This was apparently Patrick’s 50th Indy Car start and, of course, everyone knows she was the first woman driver to lead the Indianapolis 500.

You Go, girl.

    She stole nothing.

That foxy dark haired whackaloon female race car driver WON the fucking race.

She stole NOTHING! She WON it. Fucking WON IT!

Fuel issues are a part of any race, with males or females.

    Fuck that shit.

    SHE WON THE FUCKING RACE!!!!!!!!

So let’s make sure she gets props for WINNING, not stealin.

    Harumph.

  • Yes DM. Props to her indeed.
I got pretty moved seeing the news clip of her get emotional immediately after the race. Can you imagine the freaking pressure she must have been under all this time, and not just from the professional excellence standpoint? To carry the hopes, dreams of, and a degree of responsibility for, an entire gender….to always be judged differently and held to a different standard….and then to finally break through….good for her.
BTW, there’s another female athlete who doing incredible things in her sport. Lorena Ochoa, the superb golfer from Mexico and #1 lady golfer in the world, has won 4 in a row, 5 of her last 6, and 10 of her last 15 events. She totally rocks and is on an absolutely amazing run over the past couple of years.
Finally, I also have to put in a plug for my little one who scored seven goals in her very first soccer game yesterday! Sadly, I missed it as I had unavoidable travel this week–I’m not going to get over that for a while.
