Since the link from Stranger Fruit seems to be sending a few book nuts this way, I thought I’d share a resource. Eric Flint describes the purpose of the Baen Free Library in a way that boils down to good old marketing. Free samples to get you hooked. For the most part you will find the first one or two books from a given author’s multi-work series.

This is Sci Fi / Fantasy schlock for those of you that like that sort of thing. Each book is provided in a variety of formats so it should fit your electronic reading needs.

I’ll also note that Tor (Tor.com) is working a model whereby you sign up for an emailing list and they give you access to a new electronic book every week. Cool beans.

Cult Fiction Book Meme

John Lynch pulled a list of 50 “Cult Fiction’ books from The Telegraph which defined the category (in part) as follows.

Cult books include some of the most cringemaking collections of bilge ever collected between hard covers. But they also include many of the key texts of modern feminism; some of the best journalism and memoirs; some of the most entrancing and original novels in the canon.

I enjoyed the 101 Books of Pretension Meme before so let’s take a run at this one.
