Scary Subversive Elements Controlling Our Government (Aiiii!)

Some mofo named “MonkeyPox” over at Comrade PhysioProf wrote a screed against a nasty little conspiracy called “The Family” or “The Fellowship”. AKA “C street”.

I bring this up because the latest Republican goat-fucker to get caught fucking goats (or in this case, an Argentinian), well, it turns out he belongs to a cult-within-a-cult.  He’s a member of “The Fellowship”, which also goes by the name, “The Family” (hmmm, where have we heard that name before?) Who are these people?

Well, for one thing, they sponsor the annual Circle Jerk National Prayer Breakfast which every president must attend and address lest he be thought to be a closet Jew homosexual atheist. Apparently, the Family also owns a house in DC commonly called “C Street” which hosts faithful politicians when they wish to pray, sleep, confess, and what-not.

Scary fucking shit. I was listening to Fresh Air with Terry Gross on this very topic yesterday. You can listen here or download the episode. It is an interview with one Jeff Sharlet who has apparently written a book about these subversive, secretive and anti-american conspirators.

The group’s approach to religion, Sharlet says, is based on “a sort of trickle-down fundamentalism,” which holds that the wealthy and powerful, if they “can get their hearts right with God … will dispense blessings to those underneath them.”

Members of the group ardently support free markets, in which, they believe, God’s will operates directly through Adam Smith’s “invisible hand.”

The elitism, paternalism and the belief that success on their agenda (even of the bloodiest dictators like Suharto) is evidence of God’s blessing, as related by Sharlet, is absofuckinglutely horrifying.

You know, when you realize that many members of Congress subscribe to this shit. The depiction in the interview of some Congressional member interviewing for membership like some acne-ridden frosh rushing Delta was particularly awesome.
